Random Things of Note

There has apparently been a resurgence of X-Men novels. The one that I am currently reading is fabulous so far. It is both well researched and well written. Granted, I'm not far into it but any book that throws in props to Alysande Stuart and the Warpies gets props from me. It's called X-Men: The Return and it's by Chris Roberson.

In the music world, if you New Found Glory, Stroke 9 or Brand New, I suggest checking out Amber Pacific's album Truth in Sincerity. It has the same sort of up-beat, psuedo-punk feel with lyrics that remind me more of NFG than the other two.

Huh... I wouldn't have considered Brand New to be labeled as 'upbeat.' Not since 'Your Favorite Weapon.' 'The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me' and 'Deja Entendu' are darker to me.

We were going to hit up Amber Pacific at the Warped Tour, but my brother got us to go see Tiger Army instead.

Yeah, that was phrased badly. I mostly meant that NFG was upbeat, but Amber Pacific was the same sort of music feel that reminds me of all three of the bands. It lacks the darkness of Brand New. I think it's the drums that remind me of Brand New mostly. Not sure if I'd want to see Amber Pacific in person, but I'm glad I bought the CD.

ahh.. That makes more sense.

Yeah... but that's the wonder of the Warped tour. We saw 15 bands for a few minutes or their full half hour set. It cost $40 to get in, but a lot of the shows were worth more than the $2.67 per band it breaks down to.

*blinks* Wow. I am totally envious. That sounds awesome.

I'll post a review soon.

Woot. I'm always on the lookout for new music. I also bought BoysLikeGirls, and it's pretty good. I haven't decided what genre it falls into yet. I need to pick up Click 5, which sounds good on a preliminary listen, but I grabbed Amber Pacific instead.
