So I'm randomly reading the random news articles that are always on the Hotmail website and I read one about how it's healthier and more Earth-friendly to eat insects. All fine in good. I'd be willing to try. The author of the article continues to lament the fact that Americans are insect-food deprived. Puritanically derived as we are, we've never really given in to the whole insects as food thing. More of us probably don't try it now because of the hassle involved in it. Cultures who are used to such a diet are also adapt at finding these insects but if I want to eat silkworm stir fry, for instance, I would not know how to go about getting my silkworms. I believe that if the ingredients were more easily attainable, i.e. you could buy them rather than going outside and trying to actively catch your cuisine, more people would be willing to try this type of food. So the author should lay as much of the blame on the incapability of acquiring the insects as he does on our unwillingness to eat them. But that's just me.
