Cannot Follow
Jan. 20th, 2003 10:29 pmIn the distance and the space
Where worlds collided
Like butterflies with corresponding
Flight paths past mountains,
There the river laid her hair,
The ribbon of silver,
Out to dry in the sun.
The world echoed like bells
Rung from the high towers,
Hung in space like crystal ornaments
Decorating the tree in December,
A cornucopia of color,
The blues like eyes folded
In new fallen snow.
There is a distance out there
Where no one can hear
Your voice, straining
Against the wind and the bird calls.
It's where the river lays her hair
When the sun gets too warm at night.
It's where your eyes cannot follow.
Where worlds collided
Like butterflies with corresponding
Flight paths past mountains,
There the river laid her hair,
The ribbon of silver,
Out to dry in the sun.
The world echoed like bells
Rung from the high towers,
Hung in space like crystal ornaments
Decorating the tree in December,
A cornucopia of color,
The blues like eyes folded
In new fallen snow.
There is a distance out there
Where no one can hear
Your voice, straining
Against the wind and the bird calls.

When the sun gets too warm at night.
It's where your eyes cannot follow.
