dreamcatchings: (dw: simply having a wonderful christmas)
I forgot to mention this earlier. A very big thank you to [livejournal.com profile] mizzmarvel for sending me the present. I wasn't expecting it so I opened it early. Thank you very much, dear.

For all those on my flist, here's hoping you have a fantastic holiday no matter what you celebrate. May it be full of light and love and hope and wonder. I am very glad to know all of you, and I wish each and every one of you all the wonderful things in the world.

The fic Christmas presents are obviously going to be late, but if you want one, come sign up here.

My da and I did Christmas today. He bought me an X-Box Kinect, which I knew about because I helped him pick it out, and a Kindle Fire, which I am totally OMGing over. So cool. I'm thinking of using the name Gert for the Fire.

In other news, my mom and aunt are fighting so said aunt will not be at Christmas. Oh well.

In preparation for opening my Etsy store, I've been spending a lot of my time this week sitting around with the tv on while I wrap suede lace around various sized metal hoops. My fingers are not happy with me. First step is wrapping. I used to wrap and then make the web and do things one at a time. Since the wrapping is the part that gives me the most trouble (my hands are stupid and tend to freeze up after doing activities that require them being held in one position for a long time such as holding the lace secure while wrapping with the other hand or crochet or cross stitch which might be why I haven't done much with these crafts of mine in recent years. I wonder what sort of vitamin I should be taking to counteract this problem.) I've decided to wrap a bunch of hoops en masse to begin with. This will hopefully result in larger numbers of dreamcatchers ready at once because I won't be putting off the wrapping. The webbing is easy and fun and allows me to pick through lovely beads.

I've also been keeping busy with an actual social life. Between Warhammer and RP and hiking and shopping and plotting bar nights and being promised to go bowling without being asked and going with friends to get tattoos, I've been feeling rather stretched thin and popular. I'm not minding too much. I'm just trying to keep myself balanced. I require a good amount of alone time to center and regroup because it's a big big world out there, and it makes me anxious at the best of times and downright crazy at the worst.

But friends make everything better and prove themselves time and time again that even if they accidentally hurt my feelings they'll do their best to take the sting out of it by proving that I do, in fact, matter. I have a hard time believing that I am of any important a lot of the time.

I need to do more Christmas shopping.

I'm off to my father's for a bit today. Haven't seen him yet for Christmas.

I'm off New Year's Day and working my way back into AMX so I guess I'll start posting then, at which point we'll be over at IJ. Need to figure that thing out and make it not ugly before then. Hmmmm...

Back later.

Christmas loot list for those that care: )

I still owe those drabbles to people, which I am meaning to get around to. Here's hoping work won't be too bad today. It being the day after Christmas and all, though, I'm not too hopeful on that end, but I guess we'll see.

Merry Christmas. Happy Holidays. Blessed Yule. Happy Hanukkah. Happy Kwanzaa.

Take your pick. I offer love and good wishes for all.

&hearts to [livejournal.com profile] mizzmarvel. I opened the box the moment it arrived. Thanks, darling. Much love to you.

I thought I had a Christmas icon but apparently I do not. Oh well.

Merry Christmas.

&hearts to all. There are so many of you that I miss seeing on a regular basis. So many of you that I miss talking to on a regular basis.

But I love more like a volcano than a fire. I may lie dormant, but the fire remains. I may cover you in ash and forget about you, but in the end I awake, restless, sigh and then rain molten lava from the sky, missing you.

The Spike channel is running a Star Trek: Voyager best episode marathon, which manages to make me happy and covetous of all seven seasons at the same time. My dormant ST:V love and P/T shipper is beginning to squee again, and, as this was one of my first OTPs, this part of me is not quiet. No, she is loud, and she insists that paying upwards of $96 dollars a season is really not all that much when compared to the joy that said seasons will bring me. She does not seem to fully appreciate the fact that the DVD player has given me the Panasonic HO2 "No Disc" error of death and must now be replaced part of the equation, either.

Instead, I simply upped the status of the ST:V discs in my Netflix queue, which I reactivated because of other news I haven't shared yet, and then dug out the handful of ST:V novels that I own (shut up, [livejournal.com profile] tsylyst you have DS9 ones) and read through those while "Year of Hell" was playing. (I have "Day of Honor" in novelalization form, and I simply had to relive the moment when Paris and Torres were floating in space and about to die from lack of air and she confessed that she loved him. I'm a sucker that way. Shut up. Being a hopeless romantic will ruin my self-professed image of being a bad-ass.)

Any-way, my father came down and dumped a bunch of stuff off at my apartment today. Christmas stuff, boxes of books, etc. Some of it was stuff that I wanted. Some of it I will be throwing away. Other items that I wanted appear to be nowhere. Fun times. Oh, well, I guess that stuff wasn't that important, and we totally have more junk than we have stuff to do with as it is.

Christmas is a week away. This is a problem as it has totally snuck up on me, and I have nothing done that I needed to to other than buying and wrapping presents. Everyone should expect their presents to be late, and at some point, I need to get my ass over to Wal-Mart to purchase envelopes and also some pie plates and pumpkin pie making supplies because I asked what I could make and Mom said pie. Pie it is.

Cards will also be late, although I might be able to get those mailed this week. Maaaaybe. If I don't feel too crappy after work I can try to fly through those. The packages will take a little longer.

Work is starting to churn down. Hasn't been so bad at all the past couple of days. Hopefully, it'll stay that way for a little while.

RL has been sort of hectic because [livejournal.com profile] timberwolfblues is sick so I've got more to do around the apartment than usual.

And this coming Monday (the 18th) I offered to work overtime doing a special project at work to get a little extra money in the account, which is never a bad thing. Apparently, all we're going to do is run speed tests all night. I work from 5pm until midnight so it's not going to be all that bad and at $17.50 an hour it's more than worth it.

Am off Christmas Eve and Christmas though the boy is working both. He'll still be home in time to do some stuff.

Need to talk to Mom. Need to get back up to Dad's to pick up Christmas stuff because we have nada around the apartment other than presents, cards and some snazzy paper I picked up.

I have been sleeping what I consider to be too much, but I'm always tired. Not sure what's going on with that.

Time to go to work.

Random:

Amazon is beginning to annoy me. I placed an order on November 10 (Christmas presents part the first) and, um, I still do not have my order. It still hasn't even shipped, which I do not understand what is up with that because, really, everything shows as being "in stock" so what can the hold-up possibly be? This is about $68 worth of merchandise that I ordered well before I needed it and am now worrying that it will not arrive in time for Christmas.

I did, however, get the calendars I ordered. Yummy. Some of those are Christmas presents. I still need to buy some Christmas cards. And send some of you guys my address (cough*Heather*cough).

That time of year again.

If you want a Christmas card please reply with your name, full address and holiday of choice.

Comments are being screened.

Thank you.

As much as it pains me, I think I have to cancel Christmas this year. Even making $2.50 more an hour, I am bleeding money and funds out seems to be exceeding funds in, which means that to make ends meet, I probably need to get a part time job.

Oy.
