I thought I might make it a little easier on myself by going ahead and making a bit of a list. This isn't a strict list of things that have to be covered. It's more just me giving myself a go to in case I don't have anything on the brain at the moment. I'm also totally open to recommendations/suggestions/requests.

I'm going to go ahead and say that on some of these I am going to have to reread before I can discuss anything about the topic in question intellectually.

I spent the majority of my mid-week weekend (trust me, it's a thing) using Comic Collectorz and their app to turn your camera phone into a bar code reader to make a catalog of my comic books. The software has a handy export to HTML function, and I have some webspace through work so you guys get to see my catalog. It's here if you want to take a look.

I shouldn't have spent the money, but I totally preorderd this because I couldn't pass it up. Now let's see them make Husk, Chamber, Arsenic and Old Lace and Chase. I'd be totally fucking broke, but my world would be complete.

I promise more later although it might not be this weekend.

I may need to reformat Donnie (the desktop), which would be annoying. Spent a half hour before work trying to get him to work. He would boot and then not open anything once it was clicked on. Booted into safe mode with networking, restored to a previous date and then restarted only to find he was not displaying the desktop, despite displaying the Task page and shut down and start up pages with no problems. By then I had to go to work so I shut the computer down. I'll mess with him tonight. Worst case scenario is boot into safe mode with networking, back up to my externals and reformat. Best case scenario is that the gd thing works when I get home and I don't need to do anything. Might reformat anyway, though.

In other news, it's almost October. October = birthday and a visit from De. Yays.

BBC America's has a Doctor Who marathon on. Since I have a bit of a cold I've been watching it most of the day. I started around mid-season 4, and it's currently up to the first part of The End of Time. What they did to Donna still breaks my heart. Amy is my favorite companion, but Donna is a very close second. Until Amy arrived, Donna was my favorite, and I wanted her to stay on for years and years so I cried the first time I saw the end of season 4. It still makes me teary eyed but rewatching them after having watched season 5 with Matt does make me realize that, yes, Matt is my Doctor. I love David. He did a wonderful job, and you can see the impact his performance made on Matt, but there's something about Matt that touches me deeper. David's Doctor seems to have more rage, which is understandable considering everything that happened. Matt's version has a little more kindness to him, and there's something awkward and clumsy about him. I don't know. David's Doctor can be scary, but I haven't seen Matt's manage it, which is fine by me. I don't think it's a failing. And Amy is the perfect companion for Matt!Doctor.

As far as buying the sets goes, I'm working backward. I got season 5 on Blu-Ray and just earlier ordered season 4 on regular DVD and the first season of Torchwood on Blu-Ray because Amazon is having a sale. The prices are still higher than I like but lower than normal. Curse imports.

I should admit that I'm a little on the obsessive compulsive side of things when it comes to collecting. If I find something I like (comic books, action figures, stuffed toy lines, rocks, nail polish, etc.) I will just buy them. It's one of the little tendencies I have that makes watching Hoarders such a freak out for me. It's not that I put sentimental attachment on everything but there are certainly things in my house that do have a great deal of memories attached to them that keep me from getting rid of them/taking them out of their packaging. Probably the best thing going in my favor to not becoming a hoarder is that things that I don't have a lot of sentimental attachment with just stop being interesting after a while. I have two garbage bags full of boxed 90s and early 2000s action figure that I should go through and either sell of give away unless they happen to be some of my ultimate favorite characters. I also have about two bags full of stuffed animals that I need to do something with.

My latest obsession? MiniMates. I don't even know. I started buying some as cute little gifts for people and now I want want want, which is going to mean eBay purchases and random online purchases until I tire of them. The good news? I am limiting myself to either gifts for people or characters I have RPed (as most of my favorite characters are covered in that.)

*sigh* Oh me and my fickle material loves.

Also since I'm going to my mother's tonight and possibly won't be around tomorrow: Happy Holidays to all whatever you celebrate even if that's nothing at all.

I had a dream last that for some reason I was at an airport and just so happened to run into Neil Gaiman and his manager/agent/whatever. Like any good fangirl, I gushed. Not at Neil but from a safe distance away where I hoped that he wouldn't see. I was with friends although I'm hard pressed to say who was there thanks to my spotty dream memory. I don't know if Neil saw that gushing but the agent certainly did, which is when he decided to approach me. According to Mr. Agent, Neil didn't like staying in hotels and would much rather stay with a person. The agent then asked my group if any of us could put Neil up for the night. I, of course, said yes. So off to my house did Neil go only for some reason the house ended up being a mix of my mother's house, my apartment and the house in Salem my dad used to have before he moved to BFE. Interesting mix to say the least. And not only that but most of my family ended up being there, wandering around and pestering me about who the strange man was. I was mostly freaking out because Neil was sitting right next to the bookcase with the Ultimate Sandman books on it while playing cards with my maternal grandparents. I didn't want him to see the editions and think I was some sort og stalker, but I also wanted him to sign them.

It was strange and sort of fun.

My Kindle arrived yesterday. With the help of a friend at work I decided to name him Lucien Nepenthe. Lucien being, of course, the librarian of the Library of Dreams from Sandman and Nepenthe means "one that chases away sorrow." It seemed perfect to me, especially with the two put together. I have already found and formatted quite a number of real books for it, but I sort of want to put fanfiction on it. We're talking older fanfiction that probably isn't on Fanfic.net. I've seen some programs on the internet that are supposed to help automatically configure stories on Fanfic.net to work with ebook readers, but I haven't seen anything yet for independent sites. Other than going through and saving them all individually as PDFs does anyone know a better way?

I know that [livejournal.com profile] calliopes_pen already posted this, but I had to share it again for people who might not have her friended. And, well, because I &hearts ed John Barrowman before I knew he could sing. Now that I know he can sing, well, damn. Let's just say there are no words for how much I love him now.
