Comic Mutterings
Jan. 20th, 2005 08:53 amI had a dream that I was in a comic book store last night. The store was very odd in that the walls, floor and ceiling were lined with the comics for sale. You would actually walk over the comics. They were kept behind solid plastic, though, so you couldn't really hurt them. It was a wonderful place. I had found an issue of LSH that I needed and was going to check out with it when I started to look at the comics by the cash register. One was an issue of X-23 and the other was something that I thought was Mysa, from LSH, but was actually Marvistia or something like that. It was basically Marvel doing a bubblegum sorceress comic. (Which if they're going to bring magic back to mainstream they should bring back Illyana. What with the success of Harry Potter this is a perfect time to reintroduce beloved arcane favorites like Magik and Dr. Strange.) Anyway, the clerk told me not to buy Marvistia, but to try X-23. I told him a e-mail mailing list I was on had trashed the character pretty badly, and I wasn't very interested. But the comic was $1.60 so I went ahead and bought it. Then I left because the line was getting long while we discussed comic books. The sad news was that I didn't even get to read them as I woke up after the purchase.
In a move that makes me sad, Marvel has cancelled the release of the 4th mini-TPB of Runaways. I can get the second through Barnes and Noble online but it isn't at Amazon. Also the 3rd is available for preorder but hasn't been released yet. I'm not going to be able to score the entire first run of it, am I? *sigh*
