dreamcatchings: (dare)
One of the guys here who trained me (a baby, seriously, so damn young) is leaving. He's going to drive himself across the United States. I gushed over this news and made literary references that went over the doll baby's (for he is terribly attractive) head. It's just that, gosh, that's one of the few things I consider to be fabulous about the US. (Current politics and affairs as well as time spent abroad and becoming good friends with people in other countries have all left me rather jaded in my feelings toward my home country, but I digress.) I would love to drive cross-country, exploring things, taking pictures, breathing in different air and atmospheres and watching the change in the land from one side to another. I think it would be a creative jump start, which I do need.

More than anything, though, it's the kind of trip I'd like to take with someone. And, really, despite my love for [livejournal.com profile] timberwolfblues, I still feel as though this would be an undertaking better suited for the likes of [livejournal.com profile] kcauac and I simply because of the fact that when De (one E, I have to be careful with that now that I also have a Dee and who would have thought that would ever happen ;)) and I do something together we build each other up for each experience and end up simply ecstatic about anything and everything. I'd love to travel with her because I know she would push me to explore each and every little thing, and I would probably slow her down so that we can appreciate each and every thing that we do.

More than anything else, this is an "I miss my college friends" sort of entry because if we were at college now, I would have grabbed people and tried to convince them to go somewhere.

There are some many days when I drive to work that I'm tempted to turn right rather than left and let the highway take me to St. Louis rather than to work. We might end up poor, stranded on the side of the road, hitching and asking for favors via cell phones, but we'd have a blast doing it.
