Must Have Upset Thor
Jun. 3rd, 2010 12:38 amSo Sunday there was apparently a storm. I was at work, which is about 26 miles away. There was no storm there. The skies were clear and blue and sunny. It was a Sunday at work, which means slow and boring and plodding. I got everything I needed to done with time to just unwind as well. It's a nice way to start the week for sure.
Then I got home. There had been a storm, and my electronics are seriously suffering from it.
Replaced so far:
Cable modem (swapped through work)
3 surge protectors (The things are really only good once and it's hard to know when they're done. I still need at least 2 more to replace all the ones in the house.)
NIC
Damaged:
Wii (power cord purchased from eBay on its way to see if that fixes it)
TV (started with all HDMI ports and one component port out, now there's no video and shaky audio on another audio port)
Dubious:
Cable box
Xbox 360 (doesn't pick up wireless controllers as fast as it used to)
PS2
I bought a new monitor with an HDMI port that I can go pick up at the local UPS center tomorrow to use for testing on the cable box and the Xbox.
Tomorrow I'll start the long process of calling the people I have renter's insurance with as well as Best Buy because that TV has an extended warranty on it to see what can be replaced, when and how. I'm hoping renter's will cover the cost for the NIC and the surge protectors as I already spent $75 there. Not to mention the consoles if I have to replace those. Best Buy better freaking repair or replace my TV.
