Jul. 1st, 2008 01:43 amSo I go out to my car after work tonight to find some white powder crap all over the passenger side, the roof and the windshield. I assume it's ash from a firework, clean off the windshield and a bit of the passenger window and go to the gym to meet Patrick and Don. Who promptly go all WTF? over the sight of my car and start trying to figure out what it is. Don believes it's from a fire extinguisher, and Patrick is positive that it was done purposefully. I don't really care. I just don't want the crap on my car.
It's still there. Mostly. I managed to clean some off but fuck going through a car wash in the middle of the night. Alone. Not happening.
Maybe tomorrow.
Gym kicked my ass in the best way possible. And Patrick has to be the best gym partner since
kcauac.
Next up in our plans? A diet.

Apr. 6th, 2008 05:04 pmThe car place called yesterday to tell me that they had tried to start my car 25 times and, lo and behold, the damn thing started each and every time. They still needed to rotate the tires, which I had asked them to do since it needed to be done and the tires had been bought there anyway, and run the diagnostic to make sure the starter wasn't going out or anything. My first words to the guy when he told me that it had started were, "Seriously?" closely followed by the sort of frustrated laughter the mechanics and pc techs alike must be used to hearing.
So yesterday I had
timberwolfblues take me to pick up my car, which has been starting since. Stupid thing. It does ride a lot better with the tires rotated, though. That might also have something to do with me not having check the tire pressure in a bit. And, yes, I am an evil car owned. I know, I know. The daughter of a mechanic should be a lot more diligent when it comes to oil and air pressure and washings than I am but really. It never interested me in the slightest.
In other news, I also managed to beat the issue I was having with my desktop. I bought four 1GB sticks of RAM for it. The motherboard specs said it was upgradeable to 4GB of RAM. I got a pretty sweet deal on the RAM and had wanted something to punch up the computer a little because I can't really afford a new one right now. The memory comes in. The old sticks of 512 come out. The new sticks go in. Three beep salute, no booting.
Two weeks and many diverse configurations of which RAM in which slot later, I have my computer booting with the 4GB of RAM. I did a BIOS update and then we went in and set the memory configuration to manual and then set it to 667 MHZ of RAM. Lo and behold, the beast works. Due to allocated memory for various things, the most memory that Windows will see if 3.5GB of RAM but still. I fought the law and the law did not win so it's aces for me.
Once I uninstall some unnecessary programs and finish moving things over to Benjy (the external HDD), I'm more than likely going to reinstall the OS on the desktop anyhow. It's more than time for that step. I also need to double check and make sure I have all my discs and .exe files saved somewhere I can easily get to them.

Apr. 5th, 2008 10:31 amMy car broke. I left work all ready to drive home, go to the store for some groceries and then go home for some RP. I get the car, turn the key and nothing. Well, no, not nothing. The lights come on, the radio comes on, the oil, battery and check engine lights come on. The engine makes a very low mechanical noise and then klunk.
I try again. Same fucking thing.
I curse the car and try again. Same thing. It blows.
Now my insurance has a roadside assistance built into it but no number to dial. I don't have AAA. And since it's Friday, the co-workers I would feel okay asking to drive me home/let me use their AAA to get my car towed are off. Fantastic.
So I called
timberwolfblues because, despite everything, we've managed to stay friends. He agrees to come get me.
I head inside and tell co-workers about the car. They say it sounds like the starter.
timberwolfblues shows up. We wait for the AAA battery truck. He checks the battery and then says the problem sounds like the starter. We wait for the tow truck.
I finally get home after 3am.
Yarg. I bought myself a fancy new cell phone last weekend because the old one was years and years old and the case was beginning to crack. Every single time I spend money on something I want, something I need fucking breaks. It blows.
This year blows.

Oct. 5th, 2007 02:16 pmLast night was the concert/my birthday. Not the worst I've had and not the best, either. One upsetting note was the lack of a phone call from my father.
Then I spent too much money on CDs.
Today, I spent too much money as well, but it was mostly to get new tires on Serenity. So $302 later, my car rides a lot better.
I've also been speaking with an Edward Jones associate about investing my money in a Mutual Fund as well as looking into starting an IRA. I think I'll show the literature to
timberwolfblues and my father before I commit to anything.
Right now I'm just chilling out, watching some Ghost Hunters before I do some housework around here.
Oh, thanks to Dee and
tsylyst for the birthday wishes.

Jul. 2nd, 2007 09:57 amThe Ren Faire was awesome, and I would totally go again sometime. There was singing and beer and just a lot of fun for us walking around and looking at all the pretty pretty things.
Yesterday, I watched seasons 1 and 2 of Weeds thanks to On Demand. It was really pretty good. Today I'm thinking about watching Tudors since I might be carless again if the other car isn't done yet.
And ( rp list again: )
Again, poke me if missed something.

Jun. 19th, 2007 09:28 amBetween helping the neighbors move and the way my stomach has been acting up the past couple of days, I haven't gotten nearly anything accomplished that I wanted to. And now we have one of the cars in the shop because it needs a new tire so I have to leave early to drive
timberwolfblues to work and then go to work ass early myself. Suck. I'm thinking of calling in. I am so tired and sore. I don't feel like I even had any days off.

Do We Get What We Want?
May. 7th, 2007 03:23 pmChores done. Mostly. What I originally thought was a post office near the Target ended up being some sort of Veteran work center, which, while cool, does not help me. So I'll just have to try and catch my postman to send the Netflix stuff out tomorrow. Not a big deal.
I bought my mother four DVDs for Mother's Day. I got the oil changed. While at the bank, the teller asked me whether I had ever talked to their investment people, which was something I had been meaning to do but never asked about. I now have an appointment to do that. Apparently the amount of money in my two accounts makes them think I should be investing, which is actually helpful to me because I had just been about to start asking people how much money should stay in a checking account.
I also bought myself a griddle so I can make French toast and pancakes again as well as a couple of CDs from artists who've had music played on Grey's Anatomy, which really showcases some of the loveliest music I've heard in a show in awhile. It's right up there with Scrubs.
Now I'm going to get something to drink and then watch some TV before working on posting.

May. 7th, 2007 11:42 amI have errands to run today. I don't want to. I really don't like leaving my apartment unless I have to but there are things that need to be done.
List:
However, I'm going to have some coffee and let the lunch hour pass me by before I even contemplate setting foot outside of my door.
List:
oil change- bank deposit
- Mother's Day gifts
- bank deposit
- post office
Target run for odds and ends

Apr. 27th, 2007 10:19 amSo the fucking guy who sold us the fucking car didn't give us the right fucking paperwork to take to the fucking BMV to get the fucking car registered. So now we have to call the fucking guy (and wait for him to fucking call us back) to get the right fucking paperwork to get the fucking car registered.
I am so utterly beyond pissed.

Apr. 2nd, 2007 08:33 pmFinally home. Ended up leaving and getting my hair cut and colored. Pics to come. That took about three hours at which point I merely wandered around for a bit until Mom got home and we went to dinner together.
I'm home now and kinda exhausted. I have accomplished nothing on my RP list and that makes me feel like crap.
Because of the alignment problem on the new (for us) car, I still have to go back down to Louisville later tonight to pick
timberwolfblues up. Not sure I can get any posting in. *sulks* Bad, bad me.

Apr. 2nd, 2007 12:17 pmAfter much debate,
timberwolfblues and I finally decided to just break down and get another car.
We got a black 2000 Taurus SE for about, um, $4200 after taxes and everything, which is apparently right at blue book value plus now we don't have to pay any tax when we take it to the License Branch to title it. Yeah, it might've been a little much, but we need two cars. Plus I'm hoping that by spending more now we save in the long run since we're not hopping from shitty car to shitty car but from shitty car to good car.
timberwolfblues had it checked out before we bought it. The guy we bought it from had the bad tie rod replaced so now all we have to do is really just get it aligned. The money is hurtful but necessary. I went ahead and added it to the insurance so we're kosher there, too.
timberwolfblues' brother is apparently going to buy the shit car from us.
So all that is done.
They haven't spray the apartment yet. Or, if they have, they've come and gone while we were out. The new car is so out of alignment that I had to take him to work and will pick him up later tonight.
I'm going to eat lunch and then book so I'm not here when and for the two hours after they spray. I guess I'll just go wander around stores and call people on my cell. Joy.
Posting later tonight.

Mar. 30th, 2007 07:19 pmI need a haircut. My hair is getting long and flippy at the ends as it's growing out. I want to hack it short and color it bright bright colors that will hurt to look at it. I want something on me to blaze bright so I don't feel so storm blue grey all the time, like fog over the sky.
Monday the apt. complex is having bug people come so I need to start picking things up off the floor. I imagine that they mean loose things as trying to get every single thing in my apt. off the floor is a ludicrous idea, but then I tend to take things a little too literally in some instances. The computer room is going to be a disaster for this as we have more boxes and comps in there than closet space. My plan is simply to fill every flat surface with shit. I might ask them to forego spraying in the master closet as I do not want to have to wash all the clothes or risk damage to the comics that live in the closet. The spraying hours are between 8am and 5pm. After they spray, we're not allowed in the apt for two hours. This sucks, but I suppose I shall have to live with it.
*mutters*
I'm not even sure what I'll do if they come before I'm ready to go. I mean, seriously. I'm off on Monday. I guess I'll haul my ass up early, get showered, dressed and open the windows so the worst of the bug spray stink will air out and then leave as soon as they're done. Not sure what
timberwolfblues' plans are as he leaves for work around 11am most days.
This is also me assuming he won't be taking my car. If he does, I have NO idea what I'll do other than maybe go spend the night at my mother's on Sunday and just stay there Monday until she can take me home. God, this is beyond annoying.

Blah of teh Dead
Mar. 14th, 2007 02:02 pmWe've still got one car down, which means I drive
timberwolfblues to work, go to work myself and then go get him.
The only thing is that he works ten or tweleve hour shifts with a half-hour lunch. I work an eight hour shift with an hour lunch. I get to work at noon, sit around and read or go to the local Wal-Mart to kill time until my shift starts at 2pm. Get off work at 11pm, drive the 20-30 mins to his work and then sit around there until he can leave before we finally get home a little after 1am.
I get home and promptly crash, having been gone for, um, what? Tweleve or thirteen hours, I'm thinking. Ouch.
Worst thing is that I had a dream last night in which I was also exhausted and trying to explain this to people who didn't understand why I was sucking and snippy.

Up to My Neck in Misery
Feb. 24th, 2007 08:51 pmI'm feeling better now. Things are still a little crushing, but it no longer feels like the world is falling down on me. I have a headache and the skin around my eyes is still raw from the crying, but it's better now although the fact that
timberwolfblues' car is acting up again is, well, less than fantastic.
I'm looking forward to my days off and hoping that I feel good for them rather than just staying on the couch watching Mythbusters and playing video games all day. Speaking of video games,
timberwolfblues bought a Wii and some games. He got it yesterday. I, of course, was in no condition to play with said new game last night.
Yay for Wii, I guess.
I don't know. I feel less like crying, but I'm still not really enjoying anything, either. I need to play some Dance, Dance. Get the endorphins going to kick this depression's ass.

Feb. 20th, 2007 08:26 pmGot up at 8:30am this morning because we had to go get
timberwolfblues' car and take it from one place to Pep Boys (because, well, the part that's gone bye-bye is something they fixed a couple of months ago and it should not be dead this early again) and then I drove him to work. His new schedule is noon to 10:30pm Sunday through Wednesday. From his work to my work it's about, um, twenty, thirty minutes tops. There's not enough time to go home and yet too much time to kill. I wandered around Wal-Mart for about forty minutes before I went to work. An hour early.
Tonight when I get off work I have to go get him. Thankfully, it's easier for him to work overtime than me as he seems to be able to take it any time while I have to check and see if it's available. Still. This schedule is killing me.
There is good news, though. The car is apparently done. We can pick it up tomorrow. Thank god.
Anyway, I'm exhausted, my period started today, and I think I'm getting a cold. If I owe you posts, I'm sorry, they won't be getting done tonight.
