Simple Minded Way
The Longshadows

In my simple minded manner,
In my simple minded way,
I will wrap my arms around you,
Till daylight breaks.
I will try to be of comfort,
And I will take the weight,
In my simple minded manner,
In my simple minded way.

Behind the ivy'd walls of a secret garden,
Grows a secret flower,
Starved of light, starved of water,
Yet she grow strong, she sing loud,
I will try my most to shine on her,
And I will dance for rain,
In my simple minded manner,
In my simple minded way.

Forgive my simple explanations,
For your complex situation,
And forgive my somewhat shy reactions.

Behind the ivy'd walls of a secret garden,
Grows a secret flower,
Starved of light, starved of water,
Yet she grow strong, she sing loud,
I will try my most to shine on her,
And I will dance for rain,
In my simple minded manner,
In my simple minded way.

Yes, I will try to be of comfort,
And yes, I will take the weight,
In my simple minded manner,
In my simple minded way.

Slept in today. Woke up for a dream in which I had been crying. Those always leave me a little shaken up.

The concert was a blast, though. Positively wonderful. The opening band was Otto. They were okay but not great. Lots of Nirvana in their sound, which I've never been a fan of. Also everything drowned out the singers. The bassist rocked though. One of those, "OMG, his fingers are going so fast I can see them" people. Spectacular.

Then there were the Gin Blossoms. Who have gotten kind of old, which I never expected. They sang most of their big hits "Follow You Down," "Hear it From You," "Lost Horizons," "Alison Road," "Hey Jealousy," as well as stuff from the new album that's due to come out soon. Their front man is awesome. In the crowd, talkative, wanting us to dance and clap and sing with him, taking people's cell phones on stage with him to sing into them (an act I have never seen before), giving people his tamborine to shake. It was marvelous. I've noticed that Louisville crowds take a while to get the energy up. But he managed it. By the time they were doing the last encore. Still so totally worth it, though. Loved every single, ear splitting second. See, since we got there an hour early [livejournal.com profile] timberwolfblues and I sat right at the front bar, which is about four or five feet from the stage. My ears are still ringing a little, but it was fucking great.

Anyway, have an another rp list: )

Am home safe and sound. Had a wonderful time. My throat hurts from all the cheering I did. Tired.

More tomorrow.

T-minus eight minutes and counting until departure for concert.

Went ahead and bought the tickets online. Better safe than sorry and all.

Taking off straight from work to head down to meet [livejournal.com profile] timberwolflbues for dinner and then concert.

Should be back up and posting tomorrow.

Switched shifts with Dale tomorrow so he can go to his baby's doctor's appointment, and so I can go to the Gin Blossoms concert at Phoenix Hill!

Now I just gotta get a hold of [livejournal.com profile] timberwolfblues and tell him to keep his schedule open because our asses are Louisville bound.

God, I love the Gin Blossoms. So much.

Whee!

Move Along
By All-American Rejects

Go ahead as you waste your days with thinking
When you fall everyone stands
Another day and you've had your fill of sinking
With the life held in your
Hands are shaking cold
These hands are meant to hold

Speak to me, when all you got to keep is strong
Move along, move along like I know you do
And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along just to make it through
Move along
Move along

So a day when you've lost yourself completely
Could be a night when your life ends
Such a heart that will lead you to deceiving
All the pain held in your
Hands are shaking cold
Your hands are mine to hold

Speak to me, when all you got to keep is strong
Move along, move along like I know you do
And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along just to make it through
Move along
(Go on, go on, go on, go on)

When everything is wrong, we move along
(Go on, go on, go on, go on)
When everything is wrong, we move along
Along, along, along

When all you got to keep is strong
Move along, move along like I know you do
And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along just to make it through
[x3]

(Go on, go on, go on, go on)
Right back what is wrong
We move along
[fade out]

I cleaned my car out. It's been needing it for a while. It wasn't, like, horrible, but it was getting kinda bad. Also I got the Killers CD in the mail today. Love, love, love it. How could I have not bought it before? Well, I kinda thought I had it. Sometimes I'm not sure. That's the problem with having 3 CD binders full of music plus the about 21 GB on my HDD. Yes, some of that overlaps but still. It's a lot of music. It's easy for me to get confused. Especially since I heard the Killers around the same time I heard Jet. Since I have the Jet CD, it just made things confusing.

I don't feel much like sitting around posting so I likely won't catch up on what I owe until this weekend. But since I'm staying here this weekend, that shouldn't be a problem.I'll head down to see Mom next weekend.

ETA: Later I'm gonna upload some shots of my ass jeans. I love these jeans. They fit and I think they kinda make me look somewhat hot. As hot as I ever look anyway. I don't wear them much. You'll see why. They can be difficult to coordinate tops with.

Aware Store currently has free shipping. This offer ends at noon tomorrow.

Help support indie music and lesser known labels.

And, hey, free shipping's always good.

Here's me looking for hard to find music again. *sigh*

I'm trying to get a hold of the Chasing Gray album titled "A Break in the Clouds." It's apparently rare, which is likely why I must have it.

[livejournal.com profile] jrhoffa, you've worked magic for me before, think you can do it again?

Ryan Adams doing a cover of "Wonderwall" is perhaps on of the best things ever.

I Netflixed "Six Feet Under" because the show had always interested me, but I'm not good at watching shows on TV anymore and very rarely get HBO. Finished the first disc of it today, and I love. Want more. More. The oldest brother is completely hott in that scruffy, unshaved way of his.

This post has no purpose other than me trying to talk myself into feeling less sorry for myself since it's Saturday night and I'm staying home. Alone.

Again.

Damn, I suck at life.

If anyone can find a copy of Tattle Tale's song "Glass Vase Cello Case" I would be soooooo happy. It's a fantastic song, but I can't fnd it anywhere.

And I want it. Please, please, please.

[livejournal.com profile] jrhoffa, I'd think you might be able to find it. I have the faith. ;)

The new Duncan Sheik album arrived today. Just as it was supposed to. Thank you, two-day-shipping. I'll miss you when you're gone.

Duncan's albums change. They each have a particular emotional theme. His first is hopeful about love and life. Humming is bitter, jaded. Phantom Moon is surrlealistic, Duncan's music and a playwright's words. Daylight is joyous, beauty and love found. And this new one? White Limousine is melancholy and haunted and full of tears. As though some hurt has scarred everything in the world. Even the songs with somewhat upbeat messages still use the minor chords and the haunting music.

And I love his music for that. Even though sometimes I feel like he's wrenched my heart out. I love the power, the joy, the honesty.

And [livejournal.com profile] rxglitterpill and [livejournal.com profile] eldritch just talked me into buying some Depeche Mode CDs. The Singles for 81-85 and then the 2 disc set of Singles for 86-98.

However, YourMusic is a godsend so I got all three CDs for just a wee bit less than $20 and free shipping.

Whee!

I simply have to recommend the group Buddhahead to everyone on my flist. ([livejournal.com profile] tsylyst I'll be sending you a copy.) I got the CD in the mail yesterday, and I've already listened to it going on three times. The lead singer has a very light, alto voice. The songs themselves are a mixture between alternative with a little bit of Dylan 60s rock. The lead singer sounds slightly British only sweeter but that just might be me. The only bad thing about it is the linear notes, which have taken a page from 3 Doors Down and are written around the page in a box format. Pure hell, guys. Why not just rip out my eyes?

My stomach hurts. We're busy.

Aware Store has free shipping through the 7th, but I can't remember which CDs from there I wanted to buy so tonight I have to scramble around the room looking for that compilation CD and maybe order tomorrow.
dreamcatchings: (study)
I'm currently at Aware Store trying to decide if I want some new CDs. Aware Store seems to specialize in bands that are a little off the radar of the regular music scene as well as play host to some of the major players. For example, they offer CDs by bands such as Barenaked Ladies and Counting Crows, but also have a fine selection of lesser knowns like Ryan Adcock (I'm sure everyone who was there remembers that charming man and also remembers how much coffee I had to drink), Red Wanting Blue and even Digby, which is a band from Louisville. Their prices are comparable to just about every music place out there, with the exception of Your Music, which lacks this kind of eclectic selection. You all know what a big music fan I am, especially when it comes to lesser knowns. Let's count the number of them that I've jumped on before the masses: Gavin DeGraw, David Gray, Teitur, Guster, Jason Mraz, Jimmy Eat World and John Mayer to name a few. I'm music gold most of the time. Mae, Sun Kil Moon and a few others haven't seen as much play as I'd like, but, in all honesty, their sound is never going to make it on the mainstream channels. I do have the Kara's Flowers CD winging its way to me as we speak thanks to the automatic shipment from my music queue at Your Music. I'm very eager to get to listen to it as the clips I heard on Amazon definitely had some promise.

I do, however, want to take Aware Store for everything it's worth. I'd need to grab all three of the Red Wanting Blue CDs they have as well as Digby and the Better Than Ezra album that was never released on a mainstream basis. But I haven't even gotten through their whole list so who knows what other jewels I may find here. So should I make a small order based on faith or wait until I've got a little more money? Hell, I'm not even sure how much is in there. I had Dad deposit about $500 Tuesday and I get another $264 check today. Hmmmm...I'll make a list and check on the funds when I get home. Decision tomorrow.

ETA: List )

And that's more than enough of that for now. Look out paycheck. You're about to be demolished.
